MaxKare Indoor Cycles Comparison And Reviews
MaxCare Spin Bikes Overview
With the onset of winter, the likelihood of people going out and exercising seems to be lowering by the day. Yet, people still want to stay fit somehow, so they’ll need a new option. That’s where the MaxKare indoor cycling bikes come into play. These are pieces of exercise equipment that will allow you to keep up an exercise routine at home, without having to expose yourself to public gyms or other people. MaxKare is a regular name in the world of exercise equipment, though they are not always held in the upper echelons of the ranks. One of the reasons for this is their annoying name scheme, which we’ve had to work around here. So we’ve separated these MaxKare spin bikes by color, as that is how they are listed. That’s why we’ve looked through some of their gear in order to find some of the best they have got. So with all of that out of the way, let’s hop right into our MaxKare spin bikes review!
Best MaxKare Spin Bikes – Comparison + Reviews
MaxKare Indoor Cycling Bike (Black)
First up on our list of MaxKare indoor cycling bike reviews is the Black MaxKare Indoor Cycling Bike. This is the best of the MaxKare indoor bikes that you’ll find and one of the best indoor cycles on the market, thanks to a variety of factors that make it different from the rest. What isn’t so different is the max user weight available, standing at 264 lbs (120 kg). This isn’t particularly high, though it shouldn’t matter too much. It’s not as though it will break at 270 lbs. However, you still want to keep this in mind and not put too much weight on it. As for how much the bike itself weighs, that is not actually listed anywhere. The “package weight” lists 220 lbs (100 kg), but there’s no way this bike weighs that much. It also mentions that it “weighs less than 90 lbs”, but it doesn’t actually specify that. Rather annoying. However much it weighs, there are transport wheels on the front of the bike to allow you to move it around in a much easier manner. This bike also doesn’t take up too much space, as it measures 41 inches (104 cm) long, 21 inches (53 cm) wide and 49.6 inches (126 cm) tall. Not exactly miniature, but should fit comfortably in many homes.
Now is the section where we cover the resistance of these bikes. Many modern spin bikes use a system of magnets in order to provide their resistance. The Black MaxKare exercise bikes are no different. There are about 4 or 5 magnets around the flywheel in order to make such resistance possible. The magnetic field creates a force to make it difficult for you to pedal. In general, this method requires less maintenance, is smoother and quieter than the somewhat outdated friction resistance system. You can adjust the resistance settings on the bike by using the knob that sits underneath the handlebars.
Up next we’re going to take a look at the handlebars and monitor of the Black MaxKare spin bike. The handlebars of the bike are the part that you’ll be holding onto the most, so it is important that they do the job required of them. Thankfully, these handlebars fit the requirement that most modern spin bikes are held to. They can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally, giving more options to users of different shapes and sizes. The handlebars also have different handles that you can grab onto for different cycling positions, once again increasing the variety of choices that the users have. As for the monitor that the bike comes with, there isn’t anything that hasn’t been done before. The small bike monitor that sits right in the middle of the handlebars can track statistics like time, speed, distance, RPM and calories burned. There are also neat little pulse monitors for those who want to keep track of their pulse while they exercise. A nice addition that doesn’t promise to do anything it cannot.
Of course, comfort is a rather important part of cycling- especially on those longer sessions. Thus, the seat and pedals of the bike have to be examined. Similar to the handlebars, the seat is also adjustable both horizontally and vertically. This is nice for those who intend for people of different heights to use it. The seat itself is cushioned and comfortable enough, though it isn’t exactly like sitting in a luxury vehicle. On the longer workout sessions, you might find yourself getting a little sore, but these are less common than you otherwise might expect. The bike pedals are made from aluminum alloy and meant to be non-slip. They’ve got a cage for those who want to work out in regular exercise shoes. For those who prefer to work out with SPD cleats, the pedals can be swapped out for those that have 9/16” shafts.
Now we get to the point where many people will make the call: the price. Fortunately, MaxKare indoor bikes are not exactly known as one of the more expensive brands. The Black MaxKare bike in particular only costs $315. That’s not a bad price for the features on offer here. There is a 2 year limited, with good reports from those customers who interacted with customer service. Combined with all the other factors here, there’s a reason that the Black MaxKare bike is the top of our list.
MaxKare Indoor Spin Bike (Gray)
In second place of our MaxKare indoor cycling reviews is the Gray version of these bikes. This is another of the better versions of the MaxKare indoor cycles that you’ll find, thanks to many of the design elements that it shares with the Black version. The max weight of the bike is the same, sitting at 264 lbs (120 kg). Unlike the Black version of the bike, the weight is in fact listed. It weighs right around 86 lbs (39 kg). Not exactly one of the heaviest on the market, but it still weighs a little bit. It also comes with transportation wheels in order to help movement around the home. This is quite convenient for those who want to put it away when not in use. As for how much space it actually takes up, those with smaller homes have nothing to fear. The Gray MaxKare bike has the exact same dimensions as the Black version of the bike: 41 inches (104 cm) long, 21 inches (53 cm) wide and 49.6 inches (126 cm) tall. It’s still not the tiniest bike on the market, but it is also nowhere close to the largest.
The magnetic resistance that comes with the MaxKare Gray indoor cycling bike is (once again) quite similar to that of the Black one. There are 5 magnets situated around the flywheel, offering more resistance than it would have with 4. The flywheel itself weighs 40 lbs, giving it a nice level of smooth and quiet resistance. Part of this quiet comes from the belt drive system that combines with the magnetic resistance. It makes less noise and requires less active maintenance than the traditional chain drives of the past, which has resulted in the widespread use of such drives in the modern day. The resistance setting can be adjusted through the knob that sits right underneath the handlebars. If you need to dismount the bike rather quickly, this knob also has an emergency stop function. All you need to do is press down on it and the flywheel will come to a quick (and safe) stop.
Now the handlebars of the Gray MaxKare indoor cycling bike. Once more, these are extremely similar to those of the Black version of the bike in terms of their design. They’ve got different grips, allowing for users to change how they are shaped on the bike depending on what sort of workout they are doing. One of the biggest differences between the two is that the Gray handlebars are only adjustable in a vertical sense. So you’ll be able to move them up and down, but not back and forth. Rather unfortunate, as the 4 way adjustability is a feature of many quality spin bikes. There is an LCD monitor available with the Gray version of the MaxKare indoor cycling bike. It will display your time, speed, distance and calories burned. While there are no programs or elements of entertainment available in the monitor itself, there is a tablet holder situated right above the monitor. That way you can get some sort of distraction while you cycle.
The seat of the Gray MaxKare indoor cycling bike does not have the same sort of issue as the handlebars. It can indeed be adjusted both vertically and horizontally, allowing for more customization for each user. If you have short legs, then that will be less of a problem with this sort of adjustable spin bike seat. The pedals of the Gray MaxKare spin bike also find themselves to be quite suitable for most users thanks to their aluminum-alloy non-slip pedals. Again, these are identical to the version of the pedals on the Black spin bike. If you want SPD cleats, you can swap the pedals out. Otherwise, regular athletic shoes will do quite nicely.
Now we get to the price of the Gray MaxKare bike. The base price falls right around $290, while it still has the 2-year limited warranty that came with the Black spin bike. This is still a pretty good deal, as it costs less with very few differences between the two. Yes, the handlebars are slightly inferior, but that’s the most noticeable difference. If you think that’s worth a $30 change in price, then this might be the spin bike for you.
MaxKare Indoor Exercise Bike (Yellow)
In third place of our list of MaxKare indoor spin bikes is a bike that we’re going to name the Yellow version. As one might expect, this bike is yellow in colour. We mean seriously yellow. So if you are one of those people who can’t stand having a piece of equipment stand out that much (even if it is just located in your home) you might want to stop reading immediately. On the other hand, if that doesn’t matter to you, feel free to continue. This bike continues to share design elements of the other two bikes. However, that does not include the max user weight, which has increased to 330 lbs (150 kg). The bike itself weighs around 100 lbs (45 kg). This might be more than the other two listed previously, but it still isn’t exactly like hauling around a tank. Even if you think you might struggle, there are transportation wheels to help facilitate movement around the home. The Yellow bike’s dimensions are 44 inches (112 cm) long, 19 inches (48 cm) wide and 39 inches (99 cm) tall. Once again, it should fit comfortably in many homes.
The Yellow MaxKare indoor cycling bike is also a magnetic bike and has a similar magnetic resistance system to the Black and Gray versions. It has a 44 lb flywheel and belt drive, making for a smooth and quiet ride, regardless of the intensity of the workout. You can adjust the resistance of the bike by using the knob that sits right in front of the seat and under the handlebars. That knob also serves as an emergency stop mechanism if you end up needing to dismount the bike safely and quickly for some reason. It seems that MaxKare are following the “If it isn’t broken, don’t try to fix it” methodology for their resistance systems, which is working well enough.
On we go to the handlebar of the Yellow MaxKare indoor bike. The handlebar is listed as being non-slip and adjustable. However, that adjustability is only vertical, just like the Gray version of these bikes. Once again, that’s not a great look, as people like their handlebars to be adjustable in both ways. It can be moved up to around 3 inches from its default position, but otherwise is immobile. In order to make up for this lack of maneuverability, MaxKare have equipped it with a couple different bars to grip for different exercise types. As for the monitor on the Yellow MaxKare bike, it really isn’t any different than the other bikes. It’s about the same size and shows the same types of statistics: time, speed, distance and calories burned. It does also offer heart rate and scan, which is nice. You can also put a phone or tablet above it to keep entertained. There’s also a bonus water bottle holder that sits on the frame in front of the seat.
Speaking of the seat, the Yellow seat continues to be adjustable 4 different ways. It is comfortable enough, though you won’t find it to be the picture of luxury. Otherwise there’s not too much to say about it. The pedals are caged and can be swapped out for those that are compatible with SPD cleats. While not being SPD compatible, the pedals do have clips for security. Otherwise, there really isn’t too many new bits to mention here, as these elements are just identical to those already put on the other bikes.
Once more we get to the part that people will want to focus on. And once more, the price decreases. The Yellow version of the MaxKare indoor cycling bike costs right around $270, with the standard 2 year limited warranty that can be found with the other bikes. The biggest complaint from users does come in the realm of the handlebars and seat adjustability, so you’ll want to be very sure that this bike could fit you before ordering it. Otherwise, it does the job as promised in order to get you fit.
MaxKare Indoor Cycle (Black & Yellow)
Finally, we arrive at a MaxKare bike that mixes the colouring of two previous models. It’s a black bike with yellow highlights, thus the name. Once again, there are many similar elements between this version and previously listed ones. One of these includes the max user weight, which reverts back to 264 lbs (120 kg). The weight of the bike itself decreases slightly from the Yellow version, sitting at 95.7 lbs (43 kg). The dimensions of the Black & Yellow bike measure to be 51 inches (129.5 cm) long, 22.5 inches (57 cm) wide and 53.8 inches (136 cm) tall. Clearly it can be a tall bike if you raise the handlebars up to their max level. It probably takes up the most space of them all, but should still fit in most homes.
The magnetic resistance of the MaxKare Black & Yellow spin bike is about the same as all the rest. The flywheel is different, weighing at 35 lbs and being quite sturdy in the build. The fact that it is rust resistant and sweat-proof are both definite bonuses for the flywheel. It has a belt drive system in order to make the exercise sessions smooth and quiet. Once more, the resistance is controlled by a knob that has the capacity to implement an emergency stop if you need it for any reason.
The handlebar of the MaxKare Black & Yellow does its job rather well. Unfortunately, it is also adjustable only vertically like the previous 2 models mentioned. However, it is designed in such a way as to allow users to grip 3 different positions for 3 different workout types. The higher position is for standing workouts, the middle for normal body exercise and the lower position is for (unsurprisingly) lower body workouts. There’s a small LCD monitor that sits in the middle of the handlebar setup, displaying statistics like heart rate, distance, time, speed and calories burned. Above that is a position for tablets or phones to go for entertainment.
The seat does fulfill the standard requirement of being adjustable both vertically and horizontally. You can adjust it vertically by about 1.3 inches (3.3 cm) and horizontally by about 8.4 inches (21 cm). Once again, the comfort is not top of the line, but it does the job so long as you aren’t on for days at a time. As for the pedals, they are described as being “anti-slip” and have toe cages to keep you securely in place. As is standard, they can be swapped out for other pedals if you have a preferred pair or want to use SPD cleats. Nothing too different from the rest, but they also aren’t doing anything wrong.
The price of the MaxKare Black & Yellow spin bike is somewhat interesting. It’s default price ranges up to $270, but it has been known to drop as low as $246. This is somewhat strange, as this bike has many of the same elements as other bikes. Yet, it can cost quite a bit less. Many user reviews are positive, so it’s hard to argue against this bike as a purchase. Yet, that element of adjustability that’s missing from the handlebars must be kept in mind when looking at this bike. You want to be comfortable while working out here and that adjustment is part of such comfort.
When looking at MaxKare indoor bikes reviews and comparisons, you’ll want to check for any small differences between the various models. As you can see, there aren’t a ton of differences between them. One feature in common is the very convenient price tag for all of them, making them a great choice if you are looking for a budget spin bike. Because of the all-around nature of the Black version of the MaxKare bikes, we’re going to rate that as our highest choice. It has all of the good elements of the other bikes while also having that nice adjustability in the handlebars. But as always, look around at various reviews to get a full picture of what these bikes offer and which one would fit you the best. Now get out there and get cycling!
